This also works for velvet scrunchies, and all other velvet materials.
Doesn’t matter where you buy your Velvet Durag from whether it's a $80 piece from Atira Lyons or any other durag specialized shop some people may have to deal with the inevitable velvet material bleeding. Certain colors like the reds, burgundy, and purple bleed initially because of the manufacturing process.
A lot of people may not deal with this and to those people good to know but if someone you know goes through this you can help them. Two people may buy the same durag but get totally different experiences but
You know what they say: prevention is always best.
Wash it when you first get it. This can eliminate any bleeding that can occur from the manufacturing process. Try washing it in cold water before you wear it. Hand wash it or machine wash it on the delicate setting.
The most ideal detergent to use is any baby detergent, but you don’t have to go out and buy a special detergent just to wear a durag you can always make do with what you have. Use the soap that you have: any laundry detergent, shampoo, or dish soap, that is what the delicate setting is for.
Here Are the Best Ways to Wash your Velvets to last
Hand Washing Velvet Durags:
Machine Wash Velvet Durags
Most people have no problems with the velvet durags but there’s always a small percentage that experiences them slipping off of their head. Keep rocking your velvet durag during the day of course just don’t wear the durag to sleep with if you are one of these people. They are still great for waves, fashion, and wearing out.
I’m starting to see a whole new class of gym heads in velvets. They definitely look good and make them stand out in the gym. Velvets add a luxury feel to any situation you're in and you may get some great comments on your durag. The Velvets are definitely a type of durag to add to your collection.
Hope you all enjoyed this quick guide of tips and takeaways to help those who have some frustrations around the Velvet durags. Remember for any durag needs or desires you can always grab yours here! Got those Velvet durags for you click here.

The difference is you will have your waves already started with this method. If you’re a beginner looking to start your waves the easy and lazy way check this guide out.
This method you want to do in the morning. After a shower, in between your daily events, and right before bed. Instead of 100 strokes each side hit 25. That’s righty, we’re chopping it down to 25.
We not looking for perfect waves but this will still get you wavy for those short notice days or keep you wavy
I’ll give you a Break down on how to do it
Simple right now you got no excuses to not throw this into your schedule since this is way less work than a full routine.
Step 1: Grab all your wave stuff: spray bottles, wave grease, wave butters, oil, brushes, durags
Step 2: Wet your hair (spray bottle, after shower, etc)
Step 3: Add your products to your hair (wave grease, butters, oil)
Step 4: Brush your hair the wave pattern you’re aiming for 25 times each stroke per side
Step 5: Repeat this until you brush all of your head in your wave pattern
Step 6: Put your Durag on and keep it moving
This was a quick break down if you want it explained a little more check out the easy lazy starter wave guide

]]>You can be lazy and still be elite trust. Might take a little longer but don't judge it until you try it! This is for those who can't dedicate hours to brushing.
Let me tell you a quick disclaimer before you start, this can take you one day or it can take you 3-4 weeks to see results. Everyone’s hair texture is different. The length and curl pattern you have will determine how fast you get results
but don’t worry even if you don’t see the results right away if you follow this method the changes are certainly happening just remember to give it time.
Think of your waves like a Chinese Bamboo tree, you have to water it for 3-5 years without visually seeing any progress then BAM ! Before you know it it shoots right up out of nowhere. You’ll be brushing each day then one day the waves will form and it’s a wrap from there.
Now that you’ve read my disclaimer and tiny motivational segment let me not waste any more time and let you know the method. I call this the ‘100 method’ very simple and fast shouldn’t take you more than 15 minutes. You can do this multiple times a day if you want. The more the better.
If you haven’t guessed it yet…yes you will be brushing your hair 100 times. It’ll actually be little more than that since you will be brushing each of the sides of your head 100 times each but 100 method sounded better than ‘the 500 method’ so that’ll be a secret. As a beginner there won’t be worrying to much about the crown area but if you happen to want to include that too. Grab an old tooth brush to do the crown work.
Detailed Crown guide coming soon! Now for this 100 method you will start on the top of your head and brush your head in sections to get a 360 pattern. Picture your head like a pizza and most likely the middle of your head is your crown. this is how you will be brushing your hair
Now from your crown, separate your head into a pizza pie in your head then you will brush 100 times in each section. You don't have to separate your head like this exactly but this is an example. You don't need to actually make the marks but keep it in your mind
Also you can do this during a wash and style, after a wash, or when you just want to have a brush session. As you do it more you will figure out what works for you!
First you will add water to your hair. A spray bottle would be the easiest & one of the most effective way to do so. Also you can use a warm to hot wet towel or put water in your hands. What ever is easiest for you.
Add your product (wave grease, wave butter, oil, etc) and brush brush brush each side for 100 times!
You will be brushing with the grain when using this method and not against the grain.
‘With the grain’ means brushing in the way the hair grows so it can lay down easily. Usually you will be brushing downward if you are brushing with the grain correctly. Quick way to test if you are on the right path is if your hair sticks up then that’s against the grain if it runs smoothly across that is with the grain which is exactly what you want.
look at the pictures below to see what the brushing motion with the grain looks like
Add your durag and keep it moving let it do it’s magic. Congrats you’ve completed the 100 method now consistently do this and your waves will form
You do this right the waves can form anywhere from 1 day to 2-3 months. This is the a long term method and can take you up to 10 months so do not lose hope. Some days you’ll put in more time some days you may put in less whether you do it in the am or pm.
This is a perfect way to get you started on your wave regiment and can also be applied in a wash and style routine if you have one already so what are you waiting for? Start today actually start as soon as you finish this article 100 brushes starts now!

Coming soon Detailed guide to find out how to find your crown
]]>When you play sports like Basketball, Football, Soccer, Boxing, Weight Lifting, run Track or you're just in the gym, maintaining your waves might be hard. You might get discouraged as a waver because athletic season is coming. This is because you think you might lose all the progress you made with your wave process. But it doesn't have to be that way!
You kind of have to treat your wave process like brushing your teeth. if you don't do it your breath's going to stink 😂😂😂.
When you think of your wave process look at it like it's part of your routine, as long as you keep doing it you won't lose much progress.
I'll be answering a couple questions so you don't have to worry too much and you can keep your wave journey going smoothly.
The answer could be yes or no let me explain. When you're playing sports If you're trying to be on point and picture ready at all times aka wave ready. Go for it wear your durag all the time but it's not a must if you want to be a waver.
Some sports wearing a durag might be uncomfortable like in football when you wear a helmet. You can use a wave cap or take the helmet off from behind at first not to mess up your waves.
However, you don't have to wear a durag all the time just make sure after you done with your sport or taking off your helmet for the day do a brush session to fix your wave pattern and maintain your wave progress. You want to lay your waves back down.
After that, put your durag back on until you can get a shower in. Then later on you can do your wave routine.
Sweating does not mess up your waves. So just know you don't have to be on the court or field with your durag on. Me personally i like playing sports and when I'm balling I like to wear my durag especially when I have a fresh cut and my waves are hitting.
Because every time you take off that durag it be like sheeeeesh. Or even how it feels to touch my waves feels good. A durag will keep your hair laid but it's not a must. Again just remember after you done playing have a brush session.
If you want a guide on staying disciplined while having waves let me know. Will do that.
Again the answer can be yes or no! you can wash wash your hair everyday but make sure you don't use shampoo everyday. Shampoos strips your hair of it's natural oils leaving your hair dry. It's the best way to throughly clean your hair.
But you don't want to wash your hair everyday you want to wash your hair 2-3 times a week. Some people (like me) wash their hair with shampoo 1 time a week. You have to see what works for you!
You might be wondering what I do for the other days I'm not washing my hair with shampoo. I Co Wash or If I don't have any activity I will put a durag on and I'll skip washing my hair over overall that day.
I mostly Co-Wash though. A Co Wash is when you wash your hair with hair conditioners. I will have another guide on Co-Washes soon. A Co Wash will get you through the week because it doesn't dry your hair out.
You can use any conditioner (preferably natural) or you can use a product that is made for Co Washing. This way you can keep your hair clean and continue to do your sport without drying or damaging your hair.
Remember use shampoo when you want to clean all the product out of your hair. Do this anywhere from 1 to 3 times a week. You will test and see how many times you can do a full wash.
For swimmers make sure you wear your swim cap so the chlorine does not mess with your hair.
Always remember brush work is everything.

I get this question a lot I got you! This isn't only for wavers could be anyone one washing their hair. At the end of the day that lather is immaculate and can take your washing process to the next level!
Let's first start with the soap or shampoo! To tell you the truth you a get a great lather with any soap bar or shampoo. You just need to know how! A new 2022 full wash and style article is coming real soon. Today we are just discussing how get that lather lather.
Some shampoos and soap bars are better than others and will give you more lather. They might be worth it to invest in but if you don't have the money right now to go out and buy a bunch of soaps and shampoos, or just starting your wave process and want to practice, or like what you have. You can use whatever you have at home right now.
Also, feel free to support your favorite influencers, online companies, and local hair stores.
Now it's time for the secret! Here it is! All you have to do is Prewash! Basically wash your hair then do it again. Once you wash your hair with soap or shampoo the first or second time and rinse the soap out. The next time you add soap or lather after that your lather will increase! Not by a little but a lot. The more you do it the more lathery it will be.
I don't recommend doing this more than 4 or 5 times but make sure you make a video or take a picture and share it on Instagram, Tiktok, or other social media. Tag us so when we see it we repost it!
Oh yeah don't forget to to add your oils or products and put your durag back on (rag up) and continue your normal wave routine.

Hunter x Hunter is a masterpiece! A quiet masterpiece, there are so many people who still haven’t watched this series so I didn’t spoil too much. It goes against the grain for many different anime. You have to see it for yourself.
This is where the inspiration of one of my favorite durags comes from. I love wearing this durag because it represents and means so much to me. When I first was told about this show I thought Gon looked stupid and there was no way I would like it. Took me a couple tries but when I finally gave it 3 episodes and I was hooked. We’ll get into the overall concept of a hunter today. We can dive deeper if it gets a good reception.
Hunter x Hunter goes from a harmless light hearted show to really dark. You would think it’s an anime where the main character always gets a happy ending but it’s not. The lines are blurred between good and bad, hard to make it out and it can have you questioning morals. Example Killua is a vicious killer but you like him and he is a “good guy'' or Hisoka a villain is likeable but his bloodlust is super weird, and more.
There's so much to talk about in this anime & I’ll make this into a series if you guys want it but today I’m going to get into the overall Hunter plot today. I’m not going deeper than what came out for the anime right now. My bad for those who read the manga.
There's so many diverse characters in Hunter x Hunter you can learn about some human traits or find something to relate too in many of them. If they are not killed off, you can see growth in them which is pretty cool too. And when I say growth it might not be a good growth, it might be a dark evil growth.
I’m not going to spoil it too much. *** This is a spoiler *** jump into the next paragraph if you haven’t seen it but an example of human nature is Netero’s sacrifice. He did it to save mankind. Meruem was a whole new character from who he was before. He was trying to reason and be diplomatic but with Netero there was no ifs ands or buts. Netero believed there should be no creature that strong on earth. Frankly Netero could have used the bomb earlier but because of his pride he wanted to fight to show why he’s the strongest. Meruem didn’t even want to fight. This showed what lengths we would go through as humans for what we can call justice and also shows the length we will go due to our pride. Meruem is personally one of my favorite characters, so I was kind of hurt but it is what it is. If you want a post on him let me know.
Now, Let’s get into it. First the show starts with Gon training to become a hunter. He wants to go on adventures and make friends. A hunter is an elite licensed professional who gets hired to go on adventures, protecting, fighting, searching for rare species & treasures and more.
The world Gon’s in is crazy compared to ours. It’s basically an imaginary world where they have monsters but it’s kinda like ours have cell phones and computers. That world mixes our world with a wild world with forces like magic and things that we can’t imagine happening in real life. Like having a video game we can go inside and actually be there. Who knows in the future with artificial intelligence we can go to virtual worlds but you can’t do that right now so we’ll settle for this.
Gon's biggest goal is to find his father who abandoned him at birth. At that point, What he does know about him is that his dad is a hunter and he’s somewhere out there in the world. Gon won’t stop until he finds him. He’s a kid at heart, fun loving, forgiving, and naive. He goes off to leave his Island to take the Hunter exam. This is where you go get your license to become a professional hunter.
You know how we go to school to get a so-called good job. In the Hunter world you have that choice where you can become a doctor like Leorio but you can also become a professional Hunter for a living and get rich. Shit If I was there I would not work a 9 to 5. I would definitely want to be a Hunter.
Becoming a hunter is not an easy task. There are hundreds of applicants but most do not pass the exam. Everyone is there for a different reason. Some want power and strength, some want riches, some want to help people, some need entertainment.
A hunter title isn’t a job it’s basically a pass or an opening to a world of jobs a hunter can have. For example since Gon wants adventure, becoming a hunter opens up all the world's borders to him to explore. Someone without a license could not go to these places. You don’t even have to be strong to pass the exam. Just have extreme stamina, some strength, and have some wits.
During the exams he meets his Bestfriends Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio and they start their journey together. Alot could be said for each character but that’s beyond this post I might make a post discussing them too. He also meets Hisoka who's looking to kill strong opponents. He becomes Gon’s main enemy. But since Gon is too weak he decides to spare him because of Gon’s potential. Hisoka wants to wait until Gon is stronger to kill him.
Gon’s ability is freakish like most main characters. He is able to get stronger and better at techniques pretty quickly. He’s not afraid to put in the work. But what makes this anime different from other anime is that he does not just become the ultimate fighter. He’s got a lot to go through and there are some characters who just completely outrank him.
There are times in the series where he completely is not the focus. His role is too minor to what's going on. What’s going on is bigger than you bro and that’s pretty crazy to see for any show. We still get to watch the show through his eyes.
The main characters evolve and change in Hunter x Hunter we don’t get to see a lot of the changes but when we do it’s when they come in touch with Gon. We expect like every other anime the core group (Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio) to be together the whole series but they separate and their stories keep going on. They pop in and out of each other's lives because everyone is on their own path. More like real life you and your friends might go your separate ways because of school, work, moving, etc but you may still remain good friends at the end of the day.
There is way more realism in Hunter x Hunter. The main character doesn’t win every fight. Gon gets his ass beat and has to run away and regroup, train and get better. You might always want to see the hero win but this refreshing for things to go against the played out “good guy always wins” story. Let me just leave this last spoiler with you Gon has a hard time with Pito there is no way he would have beat Meruem. Not going to talk much more about that or go deeper in the series if you haven’t seen it go watch it. If you have comments on your thoughts of this anime and what should I post more about specifically.
Most relatable superhero to what someone in our universe could be.
He has no superpowers but we still call him a superhero. He doesn't fly, have laser eyes, run faster than the speed of sound, etc. He represents the common man like me and you.
One thing you may not know is Batman is the only superhero who wears his true identity while being a hero.
Bruce Wayne is the alter-ego while Batman is Bruce's true identity. His qualities like pain, deep anger, and real feelings come out when he is batman. Bruce is his mask he wears for society.
Bruce Wayne represents what most men would like to be (like a cooler version of Elon Musk) runs a billion dollar company, famous & powerful, he's a bachelor, and is just overall cool. People think he's perfect but this mask covers all of his true fears, pain, loneliness, frustration, and anger.
Ironically Bruce Wayne is scared of Bats but he's batman.
Batman represents what we can become with hard work and dedication. Lol I don't know about fighting those villains though hahah😂. Training everyday, trying to get better without being born or being in a freak accident to gain any superpowers.
He worked hard for his strength and smarts. He also used his pain to help him keep achieving and balancing his double life.
The Dark Knight is a contrast to other brightly colored superheroes. He has an intimidating look and he remains the hero in the darkness.
Next, The difference between batman and most other superhero is Batman is pretty much always the underdog. He's not like superman aka the strongest man on earth.
He's powerless but most of who he meets superhero or villain has some some sort of super human ability better than his own. He always finds a way around it and he is usually forced to stretch himself to get better to win his battles.
He's not invincible so can get his back broken like what Bane did to him. Batman cannot beat Bane in a physical fight but he eventually figures out banes strength comes from his tubes and uses this to beat him.
This brings us to his Villains
He has the most interesting villains they are not just random villains that popped out of no where. The villains have unique stories, backgrounds and represent different human traits.
The villain's challenge Batman's greatest strengths and weaknesses
Here are what some of his greatest villains represent:
Bane = Strength
Riddler = Intellect (smarts)
Joker = Anarchy life with no boundaries lawless world where everything goes
Poison Ivy = Temptation or a person with no restraint
Scare Crow = Fear
Batman overcomes his weaknesses while he's dealing with these villains which makes him more likable to us
Batman follows a strict moral code and is tested more than any other superhero but at the end of the day he turns his weaknesses into strengths.
He shows us to never give into your darkest emotion and you can always make the right choice
If you like this post please leave a comment below it will encourage me to make more!
This October we are highlighting Dark Knight Vs Gotham Villains Durag. The inspiration comes from the Dark Knight himself!

This is going to be a really straightforward and step by step process on how to wash your hair while you have been Wolfing! This deep wash should be done once a week at least once every two weeks if you don't have time. There are other ways to wash your hair but this method is to help really set and enhance your waves
Wolfing is the process of not getting any haircuts and just growing out your hair while you're waving to improve your waves when you eventually cut it.
This guide is for all wavers wether your a 180 waver, 360 waver, 540 waver, 720 waver, hybrid waver or etc. I'll just refer all wavers to 360 wavers in this guide since it's most common but you can apply the same principles to your beehive or whatever style you have.
Today we're going to use the elite waver/barber @sly.huncho's (make sure you check him out) video for a visual demonstration because amazingly he did a 31 week wolf. Basically he kept a full afro tamed to waves. If he could keep his waves manageable at 31 weeks you definitely can too.
Warning do not go 31 weeks unless you really trained your hair and your know what you are doing.
Now let’s get into it. When washing your hair get out either a portable speaker or your phone and put on your favorite playlist, tv shows, or movies. This will help you pass time while you’re doing this process.
First here is an option to start with if you have been waving for a while and looking to get rid of forks but your already have your waves formed:
The first thing you want to do is take your wide tooth comb or pick and start to comb out your hair. You're going to pick it up and out completely and get yourself a wavy afro.
Do not use a fine tooth comb or you may destroy some of the developing wave patterns in your hair.
Skip that step if you are just beginning your waving journey and brush your hair in your wave pattern.
Next, you will want to get your hair completely wet! Use warm or hotter (not burning) water. You need to soak everything to make your hair nice and soft.
Pull out the natural shampoo and pour in your hair. Thoroughly lather your hair and make sure that the shampoo is properly distributed throughout your head. You want it going down to the scalp and all over your head.
Once done shampooing, rinse it out completely. This is the first wash to get all the product out and clean your hair
If your hair has more dirt or feels still like it might have some leftover product and stuff in it, definitely repeat the shampoo wash process in the previous step. Then wash it out.
This whole wash process should be really simple up to this point.
Next, you will add natural conditioner to your hair. Distribute it through your hair but it does not have to be nearly as thorough as the shampoo.
You can leave it for 5-10 minutes or not depending on the time you have then go ahead brush and rinse it out. The conditioner will bring your curls out and really define them. Longer you keep it on the softer your hair becomes.
You're done with washing for now but we’re not done completely yet. Do not be tempted to dry your hair right now!!! I repeat: DO NOT DRY IMMEDIATELY!
Optional but can be a key step:
While your hair is wet, add more shampoo to your hair and brush it in!
Thoroughly lather your hair and make sure that the shampoo is properly distributed throughout your head. Now you want to use a wash brush. This is a brush you designated for washing your hair.
You are going to need your hard or medium brush and softly brush in the shampoo.
Brush in your wave pattern from the crown of your head down. Start from your crown at the top of your head and brush down to your hairline.
You need to brush in the way you want your patterns to go.
Repeat from the crown to the back of your head.
This is where you will see your waves start to form or see some loose waves, but the goal is to brush for around 10-30 minutes. I know it sounds like a long time to brush but that’s the wave process for you. Put some good music on to make the process easier.
Keep brushing until your hair is thoroughly set. If your hair dries a bit, add more shampoo. The goal is to keep your hair soft and moldable to the way you want your waves to go!
Do all of your hair like this until it looks like this.
Look at the picture above you will see his waves are uniform.
Be careful as you brush during this phase because you are going to have a very strong impact on the shape of your waves and their connections.
You can easily form forks if you're brushing all kinds of crazy so keep your brush strokes going from crown to the hairline in nice, uniform strokes.
All you need to do at this point is wash your hair. You will need to wear your durag or wave cap to keep your hair compressed! Put it on and now rinse your hair.
Make sure you are not scratching or shaking your hair up. You just need to be patient and let the shampoo wash out while in the durag.
To help you can pat your hair to get out some of the shampoo. Let the shampoo come out on its own as you rinse. keep pouring more water. This can take a little while so be patient and keep your head soaked under running water! Use a hand mirror if you can't see the back.
Do not remove your durag anymore as it has to stay on while your hair dries. You’re going to let your hair dry naturally while in a durag and if you want, you can double up on durags or put a wave cap over your durag to keep that extra compression.
Do not remove your durags until your hair completely dries which may take 2 hours or a whole day! It’s going to depend on how much hair you have but leave your hair alone until it fully dries. You don't have to stay in the bathroom or where you are washing at.
Do not be tempted to dry your hair early or remove your durag early. You can ruin everything that you just had to go through. Make sure you are patient and know that results are coming.
Quick pro tip: If you really don't have the time use a blow dryer to help you dry your hair faster. Remember to leave your durag on during this process.
Next, once your hair is dry take the durag off and add some oil. Could be coconut oil, olive oil, whatever oil you have for waves.
Rub it in then plastic bag method to lay the hair down more.
If you are happy with your results you are good too go or you can put the durag back on after you put that oil in your hair. Leave it for a while then take it off. Your waves should be on point.
This whole process of washing can take you about 30 minutes to an hour depending on what level you’re on. Usually longer when you’re just beginning but you get fast the more you know your hair and how to tame it. You have to stay consistent and patient to achieve elite 360 waves.
If you repeat this process at least once a week, you should progress on your journey. You will have clean and crispy waves throughout the wolf process. Patience is a virtue and all the benefits from 360 Waves will be the payoff!
I'll leave the video here so you can see how he does it. Stay drippy

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR WOODEN WAVE BRUSHES
We been asked how to maximize the life of a wave brushes so here are some tips to keep you from spending on brush after brush.
Try not put brush in your pocket, book bag or luggage for long periods of time without covering it with its cloth bag or putting it in a small case; doing so will flatten/weaken the bristles.
Do not shower brush with a wooden brush or rarely shower with it.
* Curve Brushes: Take extra precaution when coming into contact with water; due to the curved shape of the wood, curve brushes are at more risk of cracking when water enters the bristle hole. It is a natural occurrence when water makes contract with wood.
·White/Blonde bristles are more fragile and weaker than black bristles, therefore, extra care needs to be applied.
DO NOT use blonde bristle brushes to brush in products like pomades and creams which have harsh chemical and will eventually mess up the bristles.
TIP: You can use a cheaper brush you don’t care for to distribute hair products, then switch to your white/blond bristle brush when products have been fully absorbed by hair. This ensures that you bristle stay clean and looking new.
Bristle Shedding
It is natural for bristles to she during the first 3 weeks of use. THIS IS NORMAL! It is not normal to see a patch missing from a brush.

If you are White, Asian, Latino, or any other non-black race, and you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering if you or someone you know can get waves.
Many Latinos can get waves but this is for the men with the more straighter hair.
Either you’ve started to try and have been getting no results, or you’re ready to become a waver with 360 spinning waves and need a place to start.
Don’t worry, because we are here to help and answer questions around the topic of “straight hair waver.” Let’s get started.
First of all, waves are not tied to any race or ethnicity. Waves are a pattern that your hair follows if developed and trained to follow your natural curl pattern in a progressive ripple effect.
Simply, waves are your hair’s natural response to brushing and maintenance.
The ability to get waves is determined by curl pattern and hair texture. White, black, Latino, Asian, or any decent can get waves with at least some form of curl pattern and can get waves through the normal process.
One Exception: you must not have Completely Straight Hair
One thing everyone needs to know before we go any further is that completely straight, type 1 hair that has no shape, s-patterns, or variation in the way that it shapes will not be able to get waves without some sort of manual styling or manipulation.
Essentially you will have to force your hair to become waves artificially, which is not a bad thing if you don't care and you're looking to have waves!
Nobody said waves are for anyone, specifically. Waves are open to everyone regardless of background, color, or hair texture. So if you have completely straight hair, your process to get waves will be different.
It’s time to learn how to get yourself waves. First of all, let's cover what you are going to need from the jump.
There really are only two absolute essentials to the wave process. A brush and a durag. These are the must-haves that will lay out the path to waves for you.
The brush should be somewhere medium or soft texture brush and the durag should be something that has a satin-silky blend of high quality.
Other than these two items, you can use other products to speed up the process such as oils or pomades. Pomade and oil will help your hair become more malleable to your brush and thus shapes into waves much easier than completely dry hair.
Wolfing: Hair growth
As a straight hair waver, you need your hair to have some length before you try to get waves. Because your hair might not have any significant curl pattern when you have buzz or caesar, or anything cut lower.
You will not see waves in very short hair. You are going to want to grow out your hair, or wolf, while not getting many hair cuts. You want to see a shape of any kind forming after about 4-8 weeks of wolfing so that you can properly determine whether you have any type of hair curl pattern or not. It will not be obvious from the start, especially for straight hair!
Brushing: Technique and Time
It might take a bit of getting used to but you will want to keep the brush strokes long and even as you brush your hair in one direction.
Third, you will want to brush your hair firmly, but not hard! You do not want to irritate your hair or scalp! Brushing should not be painful!
If you're experiencing discomfort, try to lighten the amount of pressure you are putting on the brush.
Another good tip to help with brushing is using your pomade or oil to moisturize your hair. If your hair is softer and healthy, your brush strokes will move and control your hair much better!
The Durag:
If you have gotten a durag, wave cap, or a fabric that will hold your hair firmly in place, you will need to wear it when you are done brushing.
You can brush any where or any time in the morning, when you are on your way to school, work, etc. You can brush in between the day or at night. You choose .
You only want to wear your durag when your not actively brushing your hair and need to keep your hair protected.
The best time to wear one is to bed and after you finished your brushing routine.
Always wear your durag to sleep or if you know you will not brush your hair for a while. While you’re sleeping, your hair might get messed up or misshapen due to movement while sleeping or pillow case fabric messing with your hair texture.
Wear the durag so you don't lose your progress.
Straight Hair Wavers:
By now if you have followed the information, you should have no doubt in your mind that you can get waves as a straight hair waver! It might take you 3 months. Keep working! There is no race in waves, only hair texture.
Also we need more straight hair wavers that's a lane you can find yourself being an influencer in. Giving out game to those that need it.
It takes dedication and discipline but any hair type with a curl pattern will be able to get waves. And if it is your first time trying to get waves, Welcome to the Family! Drip for Life!
https://drippyrags.com/collections/best-sellers
So you want to know if you can safely wear a durag? No worries because we always got your back, or in this case your waves!
Right off the bat, let's clear one thing up; Durags will not cut off circulation to your head, brain or anything on your head. Unless you were to tie a Durag as tight as possible around the top of your head so that you feel like you're going to pass out.
You still wouldn’t be cutting off circulation completely but it sure would hurt.
So now that that’s out of the way, let's get down to it.
To get waves your hair needs the consistent protection and pressure that helps hair grow in the pattern, not curl up or tangle, and wave correctly. You should not be tying your durag like you're trying to tie your laces or shoes as tight as possible.
Durags should act like socks for your head. You don’t want your socks squeezing too tight or too loose. You want that perfect fit. Some good socks will fit snugly and protect your feet without slipping off or feeling like your foot can’t move.
Your durag should be tied around the top of your head and not so tight that you're in pain. Once you go that far, you are hurting yourself. Instead you want it to be secure so that it will not move very easily but allow you to still feel the top of your head.
Now when you figure out how tight your durag should be, you really have no right or wrong answer as to how secure your durag needs to be. As long as your hair is secure and the durag is form fitting to your head is the sign of the right neighborhood.
One more thing, if you tie your durag too tight or make the straps too small(width-wise), you may find yourself with some lines on your forehead and the sides of your head when you take it off. Do not stress because the worst case scenario is they will naturally just go back to normal and the lines will disappear.
But if you want to avoid this happening, a good way to tie your durag is to leave the straps as open, flat, and wide as possible as they wrap around your head until the last crossover when you have to tie them. This won’t cause them to create pressure on the skin as much while wrapping your head and will still allow your hair to be secure.
Just remember, if your durag or wave cap is literally hurting or you start to feel like the pressure in your head is building up from wearing one, you might want to loosen your durag. Drip for Life!

HAND WASH*
Well, everyone should know that the key to getting waves is brushing, but a question you may ask is why are there soft, medium, and hard brushes? It's not all about getting a 360 wave haircut and thinking you're gravy.
If you don't know what you're doing once you wash your hair, those waves will be gone like when Popeyes came out with that spicy chicken sandwich for the first time and people couldn't get one for a minute. You want to learn about each brush, your durags, and hair products. This is how you become elite.
Each brush hits different layers of your hair and has their own purposes.
The hard brush mainly makes your waves and wave connections deeper. Your wave process becomes a whole lot easier with this brush.
It gets all the way down to the root of your hair especially if you are wolfing. It is used just to lay your hair down
This brush hits the bottom layer of your head. Unless you have really soft straight hair, a soft brush will not do much on a wolf except for the final detailing and final touches of the details of the waves.
When you get a haircut the barber usually cuts the top layer off. If your waves are not trained right they don’t become permanent. They will be gone with the cut. The hard brush is what helps those waves form at the root of the scalp of your head.
The hard brush can be used for all hair types but if you have coarse or more kinky hair the hard brush helps tame the hair a lot easier.
The hard brush is usually the first brush a waver picks up during a brush session. You lay your hair down in layers, get the hardest part first up until you get to the easiest. It lays down all the hair underneath and handles the new growth. You want to get that out the way so you can work towards details.
Hard bristle wave brushes are made with 100 percent natural hard boar bristles so that they can get through thicker or coarser hair without tearing your roots.
Drippy Rags wave brushes were made for easy waves, reduction of frizz and to not hurt your hair as you get older; making them one of the longest lasting and best brushes on the market today.
This is the main brush in any wavers arsenal. The medium brush is for your daily brushing not only brush sessions. This brush is used to improve your waves.
Medium brushes are even more flexible, gentle on the scalp, and more precise than hard brushes. This brush keeps your waves sleek and flat. Hard brushes are for heavy duty work. They really move the hair.
This brush is great for when you have longer hair length and a bit after your haircut for deepness and connections. You can use it after a cut, while wolfing, or in between. The medium brush is the perfect in between brush.
You can brush on a wolf or low cut with this brush without discomfort.
When you take your durag off and want a quick deeper brush. Then you can brush really quickly then throw your durag back on. You can do this with any other brush but the medium brush makes the most impact for these short sessions.
This is the brush you’re going to spend the most time using. If you have soft enough hair you might not even need a hard brush you can start your brush session off with this brush. Also, if you are on a budget, the medium brush is the first brush to buy when looking for 360 wave brushes because it is so versatile.
Soft brushes are made for short haircuts, softer, and straighter hair texture. It’s gentler on the scalp than most brushes. You want to use this brush for details and when you have a really low wave haircut like a #1 or #1.5.
You end your brush sessions with a soft brush. It really gets the top of your head and is great for short hair.
This brush will give you the most shine to your waves because it lays your product on the top layer of your hair.
The soft brush smooths out the other brushing layers and frizz for a fine silky finish. When you finally take that durag off, the brushing from this kind of brush makes it much more satisfying.
You can use this brush when your hair is laid down already for example after you take your durag off. You might want to add some finishing touches. Boom brush with that soft one to get you ready to go.
As you may know we sell Curved Wave Brushes here at Drippy Rags and we recommend you try one. The curved design reaches all of the sections of your hair for maximum waves.
There are many hair brush brands out there like brush king medium curve, enforcer spin wave brush, torino wave brushes, kingston grooming, or whatever brand out there that can help with waves.
You ultimately have to figure out what works best for your hair. We believe we have the best wave brush but everything comes down to your hair and what speaks to it.
Society likes to label minority hair or "black hair" as all one texture but we need to understand that we have so many different textures and mixed hair types one solution might not fit everyone and that’s okay.
At Drippy Rags we firmly believe we got the right brush to form wave patterns to create most wave hairstyles. Also, we are always looking to improve. Please let us know how you feel about our products.
Pro Tip of the Day: Please don't buy any of those double sided brushes. They are no-no's for waves; they will break your waves up and create forks.

]]>Today, we are talking about the hot towel method. When we say 360 waves we also refer to any other kinds of waves you may have 180 waves, 540 waves, 720 Waves
For those who don't know the hot towel method is where you are basically using a hand towel or other small towel and heat to deepen and improve your waves.
This is one of the best technique to add to your wave routine.
I will let you know next why you should add this method to your hair routine.
The reason we do this method is because we got to open up those pores and to add nutrients so we can continue to grow healthy hair.
The heat helps the hair absorb nutrients and the products you put in it. This method is good for all hair types but especially if you have dry, nonabsorbent, or damaged hair.
It will also soften the hair so it will leave your hair feeling good.
You can get one of the best brush sessions when your hair is in this state. You can get the most out of your waves.
When your hair is wet you can stretch it out the most. When your hair stretches the curls can be laid down the best.
Don’t use a chemical based product for this because you are opening up your pores. You want to make sure you use natural oil for this method.
You don’t want any chemicals going into your scalp because your body will absorb it and we’re trying to stay healthy over here. Health is wealth 💪🏾
Do this method once a week, every 2 weeks, monthly for healthy hair maintenance
Now let's dive in
Step 1
Wash your hair. You want to make sure your hair is nice and clean before you apply products to it.
Dry it off a bit but leave it damp not soaked (if you want to add a little more texture) add a little more conditioner Make sure you put a regular bath towel (or bigger towel) around your neck.
Brush your hair in your wave pattern and put your wash durag on to hold your wave pattern
Step 2
Grab some hot water not hot enough to burn you (DO NOT PUT BOILING WATER!).
Run your sink and fill it up until it’s almost full like ¾ full with hot water (it’s perfect if you can see a little steam) or grab a bowl and put hot water in it.
Add conditioner to the water and mix it in until it’s cloudy ‘
Step 3
Put your hand towel in the water. Make sure you submerge it. When you take it out the towel should be hot. You don’t want the towel too wet or too dry. Ring it out so the towel is damp and hot (not burning hot)
Step 4
Put the hot towel on your hair. Press on it and hold it until the heat starts to go away. You should feel some heat on your head (never burning) Move the towel around your head. Spend a couple seconds on the left side and a couple seconds on the right side. So all of your hair gets heated up.
Step 5
Take the towel off when it gets cold and put it back in the hot water and do Step 5 1-2 more times
Step 6
Put the hot towel back on your head and next put your wash durag on top of the hot towel tie it up.
Leave it on your head for 2-10 minutes.
When you take the durag off you should feel your hair softer than it was before. Wash your hair out
Step 7
Next you want to add about a quarter size amount of your natural oil to your hair. Put the oil in your hand and rub evenly in your hair.
Step 8
Next, have a brush session for 15-30 minutes and apply your style durag to lay your hair down. Let your hair dry laid in the durag (for at least an hour) and you can have a quick style session after then put your durag back on or enjoy your hair after you finished your hot towel method.
You will do the steps as in the method with the sink or bowl but instead of heating the towel with the sink you will wet damp it and put it in the microwave for a couple of seconds.
Around 20-30 seconds at a time to make sure not to burn yourself. Have a brush session after and don't forget to rag up.
Hope this helps and you add it to your personal haircare routine.

If you’re like me, you have been looking for the best du-rag to put on top of your hair. You might have 360 waves, curly hair, dreads, braids, or another hair style and you've looked through the Internet looking on all the websites and at every type of YouTube video or article to see which durag might be the best.
This is the best guide on for the question "where can I buy a durag?" Just know you will get the Best highest quality Durags at Drippy Rags.
You can buy plain durags at your local beauty supply store, many gas stations, or even Walmart or Target. Make sure you get a higher quality durag though. Online you can find high quality durags from niche shops.
For example Drippy Rags has to the top premium quality durags for your personal care journey. We also have wave brushes so you can train you waves too if you're looking for that. If your looking to brush your hair in best way possible we got you. We have soft, medium, and hard bristle brushes so it does not matter the hair type we got it.
Quality matters though so I would recommend somewhere who specializes in what you are looking for.
Durags are used to lay down, hold, and help form your 360 waves process. They are also great to prolong fresh braids and dreads. They are many other kinds of head clothes but these are still the best hair product for black men to develop deep 360 waves and for training your hair.
The best silky durags holds moisture in your hair, provides airflow to your hair, but also adds compression to your hair.
You can find many great products clicking here or at Drippyrags.com
Why not support a company looking to constantly find the best materials on earth for your durags. If there is something you don't like and thinks could be improved we will work on it.
Our goal is to keep investing in our products and give you the best products.
Back to durags I'm still going to let you know what benefit each kind of durag provides even if you don't purchase anything. I will update this over time and make it better over time.
Poly’s are the cheapest and affordable durags. While easy to get and pretty cheap they’re going to offer you the value that they cost.
Since they’re cheap, they’re going to offer you that level of quality and use which means they are not going to be able to get you the best waves. No, I wouldn’t write them off completely because they do have their place though.
They could easily be used for letting others see the progress of your transformation or let you continue to compress your hair as you go about your daily business.
Other than that I wouldn’t recommend trying to get waves with them for long term or at least upgrading to a better option if you’ve been using polyester.
Silky satin durags or silk durags for short are a blend of silky materials and satin materials. they are spun in a way that combines the material types and brings out a stronger quality durag.
This way you have both materials working together to create a rag that is higher quality and effective with a quality technique behind it!
Silky satins will be able to lay your waves down better than a poly durag and maintain their strength and compressive nature.
Velvets use a velvet (picture suede shoes, plush pillow, or velour jumpsuit) material on the outside and then use a satin material on the inside.
This allows velvet to have both that smooth satin texture so that it can lay waves at the same time as having a very fine luxurious exterior that is quality to look at.
Holographic durags are cool period. Both men and women love this choice of durag to show off their style. These durags brings extra shine to the silky durag. They glitter and sparkle and look really good in the sun or light.
Buy one of each of the kinds. 😂 Just kidding.
If you’re looking for a Durag that is very useful and is going give you the waves you're looking for with your waves then you wanna look at silky satin durag.
These durags can be worn while you’re sleeping and generally maintain moisture and compression within your hair better than most other types of durags.
With a silky durag you can get a designer or graphic design (example camouflage durag) on it, as well as a material that can get you waves better than any other material.
If you’re looking for something a little more stylish, fashionable, and trendy then velvet is what you’re looking for. Velvets offer a silky compression texture on the inside with ability to keep your waves compressed and have a fashionable look to them as well.
While silky satin is still very clean to see, it sometimes just can’t beat the shine and luster of a velvet or hologram.
Don’t worry as long as you start your wave journey or just want to be fashionable you can’t go wrong with either one!

Hair Care tips Episode 6:
You know what they say: a man (or woman) who takes care of their hair, takes care of their woman (or man).
I don’t know about you but I know if someone takes care of their belongings, they are more likely to respect other people’s things.
Most wavers, dread heads, people with braids or other hairstyles love that feeling when their hair is fresh or looking its best. What comes with that and prolonging the fresh look is wrapping your head either with a durag, wearing a bonnet, etc.
Keeping your hair fresh is annoying but rewarding. However, when you pop out and your hair is on point, you stand out. Compliments are a plus and make you feel even better. We all want to feel good period and that little extra effort to style and protect your hair helps you look and feel great.
This helps you build confidence. One of the best mood boosters out there is when you’re looking good and you know it. Studies show when you feel good you’re more likely to talk to people you wouldn’t really talk to and you might do things you usually don’t do.
It’s a simple but easy way to build confidence. Think about it when your hair is a mess, it makes it hard to go out. You can easily throw a durag or bonnet on to hide the hair but deep inside you know you will feel better when your hair is done.
For my wavers and anyone who does a hair routine that is not instant. The next section is for you.
With confidence a wave routine can add some discipline to life.
Do you know how hard it is to do a routine every day to get a result you might not see for a couple weeks to months?
360 waves may take some time to form, create a beehive, or break forks. Discipline goes hand and hand with confidence. It helps build self esteem.
If it takes like a minute to wrap your head, why don’t we do it? Sometimes it’s because we don’t have a why or we get too comfortable.
A why can be something simple like getting the girl at school or the gym to notice you, or can be complicated as becoming the best waver on youtube. You have to pick something and use it as your motivation to keep going when you don’t want to
How many times have I slept without a durag and had to wake up to messed up hair, Smdh! I wish I could get a dollar for the amount of times this has happened to me.
Look at people who go to the gym everyday. If they stick to going to the gym they get the results they’re looking for. Missing a day or two might not slow you down but the goal is not to quit. Gym or haircare
I hope this motivated you a bit to keep going on your hair journey or whatever goals you’re looking to accomplish.
Hope this helps you out.

Hair Tips Episode 5
I got an email from one of our drip family members asking for motivation to keep him waving. He said he wants to keep waving but he get’s lazy. I want to share it with all of you out there who are wavers, want to want wave, or know a waver.
I want to keep these short so you actually read them. There will be links to other benefit Episodes Later
It takes a lot of dedication and work. An Elite Waver “OG Waver” gets a lot of respect and love. Especially In the wave community. It takes dedication and time to get the waves they have. Most wavers don’t last a couple months of waving so someone who’s been in the game for a while gets mad love and gets respected for the time and effort they put into their hair.
It’s only a select few that make it that far in the game. It’s cool though because sometimes we only want to do a style for a bit. Times change, people change, tastes change. This year might be waves, next year might be braids, the year after might be dreads but one thing people always respect, greatness.
So elite wavers always keep their own shine regardless of what’s going on.
Wavers get respected online and in person because anyone who has tried it before knows and it’s something hard and not many people can maintain it for long. Or even put the time in to break forks, train their hair, make it through a wolf stage, and more.
Most people who are dedicated to things are more likely to get what they want. Let’s say your dedicated to health, fitness, and working out almost everyday. Eventually the body you want will come. Or you want to get a date or something. You talk to enough people who think your attractive you’ll probably get one or all. lol not saying for you to do it, you do you. But you get it
You’re more likely not to start things and end up not finishing. You will get to your destination through that persistence. Believe it or not, wave maintenance takes work.
Waves show good hygiene. Females are attracted to good hygiene they can tell through your waves. When your waves are shining and defined. They look at them like Young Ma sings OOOUUU. You stand out. Not only is it a good look, it tells someone about your character.
It increases your swag and confidence. After that fresh cut you know you got them, no one even has to say anything. It adds an extra touch to any outfit. You can also flex on people when you un rag. In general it makes you look fresh, cleaner, cooler, or even dapper depending on how you want to dress.
All in all what’s important is the respect and the discipline you gain from waving. Hopefully you pick up your durag and brush and make sure you get a brush session, styling session, or preserve your hairstyle just keeping your hair laid.
Hope this helps you out.

Hair Tips Episode 4
Since talking about the Wolf is so taboo in the wave community, we will probably will have a couple different episodes on it. I just want to pretty much introduce it and get you started on a simple wolf time routine today. Not styling but when and why to start one.
A Wolf, properly known as the wolfing stage, for a waver in the simplest definition is when you let your hair grow out longer than the time you usually get a haircut.
This stage is to improve your wave connections, get rid of forks in your waves, improve on weak areas in the wave pattern (weak areas), and get depth in your waves.
If you get your haircut every 4-5 weeks you’re wolfing any time after that.
Wavers talk about their hair progressions in weeks. You want to keep doing your wave routine until your wolf but then you want a wolf routine.
When have waves (180, 360, 540, 720's) and you’re looking to improve them but you’re not seeing any progress, they call this hitting plateaus. This is time to wolf.
Wolfing is not recommended for beginners because they can be so demotivating and cause them to quit but if you know why you’re doing them. You can keep your head in the game to get some elite waves.
Course/Kinky Wavers 4-8 Weeks
Medium Texture Wavers 8-11 Weeks
Straight Hair Wavers 11-14 Weeks
It takes straighter and medium texture wavers a longer time to form waves so their wolfing time is longer in general.
When you’re starting with wolfs you want to ease into it, especially as a new waver. You just started this journey and your wave pattern. You want it to stay and set. So when ever you get a haircut you will have waves. In the beginning the wave pattern is not set so when you get a hair cut your waves may disappear.
You don't want to have to start over and over again.
It is a lot more motivational stay on your journey when you can see your waves and they look good.
I learned the basics of a wolfing schedule from 360Jezzy but I added a name to this method. In the Ladder Method your basically going up a ladder. The newer you are the lower you are on the ladder. The farther you go up is the longer the time you can wolf before getting a cut. There’s levels to this.
Your fist time starting a wolf go 4-5 weeks. This is so your pattern can stay set and you can keep your progress from your brush sessions while you keep your hair looking good. After this stage is over get a haircut.
The next wolf you can go further up that ladder. Go 6-8 weeks. Your waves should be more set and locked in. If your waves don’t look better when you get your hair cut go back to the first stage if you are going to wolf again.
The next steps are similar just go 1-2 weeks longer than the week before until you see the progress you are looking for. If you do not see any progress you may have to get cuts earlier because you reached farther than your hair should wolf due to texture or your waves may not be trained enough and you should drop a ladder and work on your waves at the lower level.
I will talk more about styling and wolfing in another episode. Want to keep this as short as possible so you read and understand it.
Medium, Medium/hard brush, Hard Brush, Comb, Moisturizer, Pomade/wave butter/oil
Wolfing stages are not needed every time before you get a haircut but can be key to add progression to your wave journey. Some wavers never wolf. Some do sometimes and there are some wavers who always do. Find what works for you and what makes your hair look as best as possible.

]]>If you’ve ever asked yourself I want to get waves this is for you.
Here’s what you need.
First thing you want is a low haircut or to have not too much hair. You don’t want to scalp because you won’t have any hair to work with. I Recommend a 1.5 haircut to start off. So when you see your barber you either ask them for a 1.5 or say “you want the best haircut to start your waves”. A good barber should know from looking at your head what level they should cut your hair at. If you can’t get to a barber At this time it’s not the end of the world or your wave dreams, you just don’t want to have a fro to start your journey.
Next you want a brush. Combs are cool but you don’t really need it as a beginner. At this point you’re just really trying to train your hair if it hasn’t been waived before and you’re completely changing the way it grows. Think of it like a lawn, if you just let it grow crazy it’s going to grow all kinds of ways. It will look wild But when you start mowing it in a certain way it starts to grow and look good and then you can manage the wildness.
Depending on your hair texture get a soft, medium, and hard brush. If you have straighter to medium texture hair you may not need a hard brush.
However,
If you can’t afford multiple brushes or can’t bring yourself to buy so many just go for a medium bristle brush because most mediums can work to start waves for most hair textures. Get the other brushes when you need more details and can afford it.
You want to next Figure out what hair pattern you want. You may want 360 waves or 540 waves or 720 waves or a mixture but you wanna choose and stick to a brushing routine. Angles are important. You want to stick to a routine so you can develop your waves. If you are an elite waiver let me know and we can put up one of your videos to help other waivers just send us an Email.
Pomades, oils, and wave butters will get your waves going and moisturizers will keep your hair hydrated. These products will help form your waves and get them shinning. I wrote about them more and you can check out the difference here.
If you can’t afford a good product use natural household products like olive oil or coconut oil which work just as fine until you can.
Laying your hair down is important. You will need a Durag and or stocking cap for this. Waves are a laid down curl pattern. The Durag is a big part of training the hair. You’re locking in the gains. You want to wear the Durag as much as possible but if you can’t due to work, school, sports teams, etc. wear it at night so you don’t lose all your gains. Since you’re going to be wearing a Durag a lot of the time it’s always cool to get one that represents you. If you want check us out and Get a Durag here.
A mirror is important because it will help you with seeing what you are doing. If you can get a hand held mirror that will be great plus you can take it everywhere. Plus you will be able to get the back and sides of your head. Front and back waves are usually easier to get but getting that crown and side waves right takes some effort.
To get perfect waves is a long term achievement It’s like working out you don’t get the body you’re looking for overnight.
If you put in the work and be consistent you will see the gains you’re looking for. For some people it may take a month or a couple of months, If you want to be elite it might even take a year. If you look at all the Instagram , YouTube, Tiktok , or other elite waivers They’ve been at it for years.
Don’t compare yourself! just put in the work I believe it will come. Your hair has been growing one way for however many years you’ve been alive and you’re literally changing the way it grows. Don’t beat yourself up and take the time that you need to get the results.
To wrap it all up a simple starter kit would be get a haircut, a medium Brush, pick a pattern that you want, get some hair products that could even be what you have at home, a Durag, Get a mirror, and have some patience to put in the work and get those waves going.
Good luck and Stay Drippy
Moisturizers keep your hair hydrated and moist. Your hair likes to be moist. And the moisture keeps your hair healthy. Moisturizers allow your hair to expand and stretch. This allows you to style your hair easier than it would be without it.
Moisturizer is good for all hair styles, waves, braids, dreads, etc. You want to keep your hair with moister and not looking brittle and dry. Healthy hair is happy hair.
Water is the main thing that actually moisturizes your hair. But water gets absorbed quickly, evaporates, or moves. This is why moisturizing products are important. They help lock in that water as long as possible. Oils and stuff seal in moisture.
We recommend water based moisturizers when picking a moisturizer. You can also use a leave in conditioner as a moisturizer.
Moisturizing can be an everyday thing, every other day, twice a week, or whatever works best for you. If your hair is trained enough you can sometimes use moisturizers to lay your hair down with out pomade.
Pomades do not do the same thing as a moisturizer (some may have a moisturizer in it though)
They help you develop your wave pattern or enhance it. Pomades are used for laying the hair down & making it shine (if used correctly lol) it also gets rid of frizz.
If you want to change your wave pattern pomades help with this as well. (For example going from 360 to 720 waves, pomade will help with transitioning)
You want to have damp hair or have some moisturizer in your hair when applying pomade so you can move your hair easier.
You can use it after a shower, spraying your head with a spray bottle, or the hot towel method. (Run a small towel or big one under hot water then put it on your head to moisten hair.) then apply your pomade and brush.
Some people use pomade in their hair when it’s dry. It all comes down to trial and error so you can see what works for you.
When you want some shine pomade will help get you there quickly. Remember a little goes a long way. You want a dime to a quarter amount. Rub it together in your hands until it warms up then apply in the wave pattern you want to achieve.
If you put too much you will have clumps or white marks and who wants to be looking like a half ghost right? LOOK BELOW LOL
Brush, brush, brush. Brushing is the most important part of waving. Then throw your Durag on to lock in that progress.
When buying Pomades you want to look at the pomade to check out what kind of hold it has. Some have a light, medium, or heavy hold.
This all depends on your hair texture. The kinkier/coarser you want to start off with a heavier hold.
Pomades that are thick could be used twice to three times a week. Light pomades and wave butters are a lot lighter and could be used everyday.
When you are just starting out you should use it more often so your can form your wave patterns faster.
Wave Butter gives the same effect as a pomade it Just’s smoother creamier and softer. They are easier to wash out but give pretty much the same effect.
Some wavers swear by pomades but the only way to see if it truly lives up to the hype is to go out, try it and see what works for you.

When you do this you never give your hair a chance to wave up
Coarser/kinky (means tighter curl pattern) hair textures have a lower curl length so you can cut it lower than and get waves faster than other hair textures.
Medium hair textures need a bit higher hair length cut so their waves can form and last straighter hair textures take the longest and need more hair to form the wave patterns.
Solutions:
Try wolfing or growing your hair for 2 months while doing your wave regiment.
Form your waves first then cut it.
Don't cut it too low coarser/kinky hair wavers try a 1.5 or a 2 and move up the loser curls straighter your hair. Don't be afraid to ask your barber which guard would be best for you to get waves.
Do not scalp when first trying to get waves even if you got some. Let your hair start growing in the wave pattern before you start scalping.
these are examples of curl patterns
You’re not really brushing and having brush sessions
Many new wavers even wavers who have been in the game for a while trying to become elite wonder why it's not happening or it's taking so long.
The magic is in the brushing. You can put what ever in your head but if you're not brushing it's going to be really difficult to become elite.
The more elite you become the less you have to brush as your hair becomes conditioned to grow in the pattern.
Solution
You need at least an hour a day when establishing your waves.
Do 15 minute sessions, 30 minute sessions, if you got time do it all in one session
Use a mirror to monitor progress
Hand mirrors are great or use the bathroom mirror. Once you really know what you’re doing brush while watching your favorite shows, or doing other things.
This strips your hair from its natural oils makes it more brittle and dry. This is a no-no for waves and hair health in general.
Solution
Wash and style 2-3 times a week.
if you are not sweating or getting your hair wet you can get away with one day
Using the wrong products some products have chemical in them that damage dry out and hurt your hair try to use natural as much as possible
